What is Soil? (3-5)

Healthy soil is essential for the survival of plants. Soil is composed of minerals, water, air and organic matter. High quality, balanced soil allows the plant to intake the ideal quantity of water.

Compost (3-5)

Compost is our natural recycling system. Decomposers are essential for breaking down large organic matter in our soil.
The recipe for compost includes “greens” and “browns”.

To identify the various roles of organisms within the food web and gain an understanding of how energy chains function in our soil.
