Grounded in Hawaiian Culture

Grow Some Good’s farm and school gardens sit on land with its own name and its own story, one that goes back long before we started this work. Though our kuleana extends across Maui County, our primary home is in the ʻIli (land section) O Owā, located in the Ahupuaʻa (division) O Wailuku, part of Nā Wai ʻEhā, the Four Great Waters of Waikapū, Wailuku, Waiehu, and Waiheʻe, found within the Moku (district) O Wailuku, on the Mokupuni (island) O Maui, within the pae ʻāina (land group) O Hawaiʻi nei. This ʻāina once held some of the largest loʻi kalo systems in the islands, shaping how people farmed, ate, and cared for each other and the land here for generations.
