Grow Some Good Corporate Workdays
Grow Some Good connects students to their food sources and inspires better nutrition choices through hands-on, outdoor learning experiences in school gardens. Our gardens are living science labs that cultivate curiosity about natural life cycles and encourage better stewardship of our resources. You can help contribute to this valuable resource for students by bringing your staff out to a Corporate Workday.
In addition to working with members of our Maui community – students, volunteers and Grow Some Good staff, come experience what is unique about gardening in Hawaii. Together we can make a big impact on our future farmers, chefs, scientists, teachers and community leaders.
Our corporate workday projects are fully scale-able and designed to fit all skills and abilities. For example:
- Planting seeds for our nurseries to be used for future planting in gardens.
- Building of raised beds for garden plants.
- Building of benches and other equipment for our outdoor learning sessions.
- Cleaning up planting beds as needed in the gardens and around campus, helping beautify the campus and inspire students and faculty.
- Making and painting garden signs.
Scheduling & Location
The Grow Some Good project manager, along with your company event planner, will define the scope of projects, create the event budget and make plans for procuring items necessary for the workday. Workday date, times and location(s) must be confirmed 60 days prior to event.
To secure your work date, we typically request a $500 deposit to cover initial planning and procurement, due 60 days prior to event.
To make the most of your workday we typically charge $30 per person based on the scope of work; this covers project management, planning, supplies, snacks and water.
Team Leads manage project setup, provide direction for volunteers, help ensure safety at the site, and assist with breakdown and clean-up. We plan for one team lead per 25 participants. $120/team lead.
We are happy to work with you on special projects for your team, and may charge a variable rate for special projects.
For volunteers’ comfort and safety, we ask that all participants wear close-toed shoes and bring hats and sunscreen. We will provide tools, gloves and all the material needed. We will provide water and locally-sourced healthy snacks.
